In:Demand Live this year was an absolute blast, the first thing that hit me as soon as I stepped onto the SECC stage was the energy from the crowd, if you were part of that 10,000 strong crowd then you were well noisier than last year!! It was great to see the Wanted make it to the top of the bill this year, last year they weren’t even on the poster! The boys stormed it and were even a little bit emotional because last time they played In:Demand Live they hit the top of charts the following day with their debut single All Time Low. Nicola Roberts gave us her first ever Scottish solo performance, she too was nervous but was awesome and I love ‘Beat of my Drum’, to hear a bit of Diplo live was something special! Alexis Jordan flew in from the states and had everyone of their feet dancing. Example who was No.1 at the time once again had the SECC bouncing and Tinchy Stryder blew the roof off the place with Chipmunk being the perfect act to smash the opening of In:Demand Live. There are so many highlights from all the acts plus our Karaoke Stage winner, 15 year old Fraser Stainton was a wicked little performer with his version of Buble’s Hollywood….Justin Bieber watch out!! I can’t wait for the next one, see you mad music lovers there!
My favourite act on the day would be a toss up between Example who I am loving at the moment and The Feeling, really chuffed they are back and glad we managed to secure them for In Demand Live seeing as there not doing too much in the way of live shows this year. It was a pleasure to get to announce two acts onto the stage. First up was Starboy Nathan, who looked amazing in an electric blue suit and a lot of bling - he admitted to me backstage that he had a bit of a thing for Yasmin, I got fairly excited but then quickly realised he wasn't talking about me but the singer… A great day and can’t wait for the next one.
In Demand:Live blew the roof off the SECC! Highlights for me include watching 10,000 people bouncing around to Example, The Saturdays belting out their biggest hits and The Wanted closing the show. I think it was quite emotional for the boys and showed how far they’d come in one year.
I loved being onstage introducing Alexis Jordan and Her Majesty and the Wolves. I’ve been to so many concerts at the SECC so to be on 'the' stage is quite an amazing feeling.
I had to deliver cupcakes the The Saturdays’ dressing room - they were all doing their hair and make-up! But were very lovely and it was fun to hang out with them. Next year, I’m aiming for The Wanted’s dressing room…
Too tough to choose one favourite act from the day;
Tinchy Stryder nailed it and Wonderland shone – in fact these gals will possibly have The Saturdays putting their designer handbags on eBay.
Romeo and I got the crowd of 10,000 to do a Mexican Wave; something I’ll NEVER forget! The Wanted’s cupcakes tasted so good! (We ate their leftovers) ‘Twas intriguing but lovely to see fairy lights in mid-summer on Her Majesty & the Wolves male dancers. A thoroughly Pop-tastical day!
Presenting on stage at In:Demand Live is one of my favourite days of the year. You can’t imagine just how loud 10,000 people can sound when you are on the stage. I am also lucky enough to do all the back-stage interviews so it’s really cool getting to hang out with the stars.
My favourites this year were Tinchy because you can stand next to him and feel like an actual giant (he’s soooo small!!) and the boys from The Wanted who are always right good for a laugh.
Can’t wait for the next one!!
My Favourite act of the day was making a welcome return to IDL, he absolutely ROCKED the SECC last year and he didn’t disappoint this year either! Plus he was the number one act in the UK on the day too – EXAMPLE was my absolute highlight of the day! I really enjoyed presenting with Romeo last year and was thrilled to be asked back to do it again, I got SUCH a buzz! When the Saturdays were finished I saw their sparkly microphones lying backstage, I SO wanted one as a souvenir… The day flew past FAR too quickly – so I can’t WAIT for IDL 2012!!
Most people came to see the acts on the main stage, but they were put to shame by the huge list of talented young ladies who performed ‘Just Dance 2’ on the Wii and all the guys who gave Guitar Hero 5 a go on the Xbox. One guy in particular almost got a 100% score on the expert setting which I’ve never seen before - well done! One of the best events that I have been privileged to be part of, well done to all involved and here’s to the next one.
In:Demand Live was brilliant! And I’d like to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to sing in front of 10,000 people. Everybody was so kind and friendly, and it was a great way to end to a brilliant day.
It was most definitely the most thrilling experience of my life and something I will never ever forget, I would love to do it all over again.
Young Scot had a fantastic time at this year’s In:Demand Live! The Entertainment Zone provided us with an excellent opportunity to engage with young people, allowing us to further promote our services. We were also lucky enough to meet the headline acts and their interviews contributed to our podcast content. The event had an electric atmosphere, which only amplified as The Wanted took to the stage!
